Dell Inspiron 7000 (7568) Hard Drive / RAM Upgrade / Removal / Replacement / Break Down Procedures

[WPXperVideo id=111 ]today we’re going to do a hard drive upgrade on a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series this specific model is model seven five six eight it’s probably similar on other models that are similar to this one but this specific model that’s the information for it so this one the battery’s internal so you can’t just simply remove the battery but what you can do is remove this bottom panel these are standard Phillips head screws so I’m going to use a standard Phillips head screwdriver and go ahead and remove all these screws on the bottom you’re going to remove one two three four five six seven eight nine ten now that the screws are removed we’re going to pop this bottom cover off normally you would use a spudger which I don’t have so I’m going to try using a a giftcard slash credit card you’re going to want to gently separate the space between the bottom cover and the frame of the notebook I normally try to find a space that’s already got a bit of an opening to work with like over by the USB ports so I’ll use my credit card or gift card whatever you’re using to try to separate the space here in between the HDMI port and the frame like so okay and then as you do that you work your way around let’s start to pop off take your time do it nice and gently no rush and it will come off just work your way all the way around the entire laptop got most of it off now except for the back area here and there you go that removes the cover the back cover or a bottom cover I should say you and here you’ll find you have the memory swap and over here is the hard drive today we’re upgrading the hard drive if you want to upgrade the memory though it’s pretty simple it’s right here just simply remove that memory replace it with whatever you’re going to upgrade it with this specific model comes with an 8 gig stick it could probably upgrade it to 16 but I haven’t verified that yet now under normal circumstances I would say to disconnect the battery before proceeding however in my case since I’m just doing the hard drive I’m going to be very careful not to touch any parts of the circuit board with my tools and I’m simply going to remove this hard drive and upgrade it with a new one without disconnecting the battery you can choose to do so if you like if you’re worried that you might short something out it would definitely be a good idea to remove the battery I’ve done this enough time so I feel confident I can do this without removing the battery to remove the hard drive you’re going to remove this screw here we’re also going to remove this screw here there’s also a third screw right back here that you need to remove now that although all three of those screws are removed you should be able to simply lift up on this hard drive carefully and pull out the data cable behind it carefully again like so now to swap out this hard drive I’m going to swap it out with an SSD specifically have a crucial m500 I’ll be replacing it with it’s lowering capacity but as you probably know with an SSD you’re gaining greatly in procurements so you simply remove these four screws and you’re going to want to put the hard drive back in this little caddy that it’s in the exact same way so I’m going to go ahead and remove the screws now I’m going to move my laptop to the side so it’s not the drop any screws in it okay now if those four screws are removed this sort of kind of like caddy comes right off and if you look at the way the hard drives put in you simply put the new hard drive in the exact same way and reattach your screws okay hard drive is installed in the caddy now we just simply reverse our procedures on the installation or for the installation by doing the following so I’m going to move my hard drive to the side bring my laptop back in place okay and we’re going to reattach the data cable as so now we’re going to gently place our hard drive back in place lining it up with the same screw holes you should feel it snap into place so to say and we’re going to use our same screws that we removed earlier to reattach it to the chassis of the laptop that concludes the installation of the hard drive so we’re going to carefully grab our lid it’s not really like the bottom but we’re going to carefully put this back in place on the motherboard making sure that no cables or wires are sticking out which in my case there is not I feel comfortable placing this cover back on and basically it just snaps in place so you’re simply going to snap it in place all the way around like so okay and then check your check all the way around make sure it looks like it’s sealed properly no gaps in my case it looks good so I’m going to go ahead and replace the screws there again there are ten of them finish putting your screws in power up and start your operating system and you should be good to go thanks for watching you

Disassembling Dell Inspiron N5050

[WPXperVideo id=86 ]hello everybody today was gonna be Kennedy’s disassemble this dell inspiron n 50/50 the purpose I’m doing this is just to remove the hard drive from inside because I need to do a backup for the hard drive so there is no way how to get around this from it from the bottom which mean we have to open it completely first of all we need to remove the battery like this and we start of course with the screws okay one two three four six these two right here course two three four five six so remove them all right now let’s see if we’re not forgetting anything here there flip it upside down and deal with the keyboard some tool like this a flathead a very thin one we will start from these teeth the cable right here nice and gently to avoid damaging the keyboard or something else yes and we got it from this side this side is almost you slid it up and then again we lift up this plaque bar over there and we pull back the ribbon cable so it’s off right here the hard drive I can see it clearly I think it’s somewhere around here so let’s see if we have any schools here to remove we have I can see one two I don’t think we have more than that so let’s remove these two screws one My Goddess from this corner so there’s something in here and gently we pull darkness sorry we forgot before going that we forgot to unhook this little ribbon cable right here easy just pull that up and hold it up and our thing is off there is another one right here I’m sorry if forgetting about them because I want to get done with this quickly okay now this is the hard drive and I don’t see it screwed so we just simply slip push it back and remove is now we can do our backup Eisley with no problem and pretty much the rest is easy to remove – you guys won’t planning to change the model board completely just you have to unscrew these screws right here one that’s the only one I think and unplug this ribbon ribbon cables right here or in case you wanna have more RAM here and so on so now everything is easy and also the screen you simply remove these screws and I hope these cables right here this one for the screen this one for the Wi-Fi right here pretty much you can take off the screen and then simply pull this face right here it’s by its hook there just by some teeth you can simply pull them off and it would be off and then later you can remove screen the screws of the screen and you can change it or do whatever you want so I pretty much this is it and pretty much if you want to put back your computer just do the opposite of what we did

Recover Toshiba, HP, Compaq, Dell, Acer laptop with just the recovery partition

[WPXperVideo id=85 ]hey everyone this video is a culmination of four days of trial and error and a whole lot of searching on Google what I have is a Toshiba l6 655 Delta Sierra 5050 laptop customer brought to me to be fixed Windows was looping when you try and start it safe Mon didn’t work last known good configuration tawantza posed to and that there was an option for that and I’m sure that most people buying laptops are probably non computer technical and they probably have no clue that they should be doing that as well before I could move on to recovering the laptop I had an issue with the bias when the computer would boot there was no bias splash screen laptop would not boot from anything but the internal SATA connection no USB no DVD drive so I downloaded the latest biased laptop and saw that they had an eye so I took a spare laptop hard drive inserted it into my dry hard drive dock USB harddrive dock used an app called Universal USB installer to burn for lack of a better word the ISO to the Spirit Drive once they inserted the drive into the laptop and booted it immediately went into the bias update program and updated my bias when I rebooted the Toshiba screen was there and I was able to enter the bias to set things up alright so that was the first hurdle averted now we can move on to the recovery part of this repair or this tutorial there was no definitive tutorial online I couldn’t find anything and I thought it would be all over the internet but as it stood I had to piece together a lot of info to get this laptop fixed without having to buy a recovery media from the manufacturer so the first time I tried this I created a winpe disk with image X on it to unpack the swm files which I will show you here I actually was able to grab all the files off the hard drive including the users data so that’s safe and then I just put it on to a different external drive so here’s the hard drive recovery partition from this Toshiba laptop and in this folder Zed Zed images and then again Zed Zed images we can see we’ve got several files in here pre I NS t 2s wim files and it goes from 1 to 15 and as it turns out when you double-click on this and open it up in 7-zip you can see the whole file structure for Windows 7 so we’re going to use that in just a few minutes because it is necessary to have on there like they said the first time I did it I used image X from a Wimpy disk did a certain string in the command line to get everything to unpack on to the hard drive but I actually streamlined that and didn’t need to actually do that actually was able to use 7-zip to do it so what we need is if you have a new drive that you’re using for this you’re gonna have to prep the drive if your original drive is still fine you’re just having problems with windows and you can’t get back into it no recovery media then you won’t have to do the prepping but you’ll want to wipe out your windows 7 partition like we’re gonna do here so on this drive I actually created the exact structure that was on the original Drive a 1.5 gigabyte partition that’s fifteen hundred and thirty six megabytes and then what I did was to calculate how much this was gonna be I just found out how much that partition the full partition was or yeah based on the amount that we needed here for the hard drive recovery was ten gigs so in actuality if I go back here into the plan folder and this one here this ayah actually shows us the exact size that the hard drive recovery partition from the original drive is so we’re able to take the amount from this if you go to properties and we go to it’s not doing it here’s a lot of properties for the disk you know there we go one hundred forty seven thousand six hundred sixteen is what was on there so it’s going to be those two combined that’s all you have to do is find out how much the main the the bulk of the rest of the drive that hasn’t been partitioned yet is and just minus off ten thousand three hundred 13 megabytes so with my drive here you can see that I’m using a 160 gig drive as a test the first time I did this I used it 250 and it worked it worked well the way I did it with image X but this partition didn’t it didn’t want to boot windows so I had to make the hard drive recovery partition active and bootable and when I did boot from it it went through and it actually started up the hard drive recovery process perfectly and everything went through but this video is going to be showing a streamlined version not using image X so you won’t have to actually go and figure out how to create a win p disk with image X on it because that will take some time and a download of a 1.7 gig file from Windows or from Microsoft I should say so I’ve already have I already have all the the files and everything laid out on here but what you’ll do is once everything is set and you’ve got it formatted properly we will go over to our s WM folder location you can drop that down we’ll go over to my computer and it’ll show that we have it’s not showing up properly here let’s go ahead and just recycle this okay there we go so we’ve got nothing in Windows 7 and so those are all the each of the partitions the 1.5 system to see all these things you’d have to actually go into tools folder options view and then uncheck hide protected operating system files and that’s how you’ll see the hidden files and in each of the partitions so we already have this it’s going to go quicker if I use it from my external drive rather from rather than from the same drive as where we’re actually putting these files so I’m gonna close out this one and we can see all we have is one hidden file in here recycle bin but what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna grab all these and we’re gonna drag them over and we’re gonna use 7-zip to extract here this is gonna take a little bit because we’ve got almost 10 gigs of stuff to copy over it will go it will quick but I’ll be back as soon as as soon as that’s finished ok I’m back as you can see we’re almost done here with unpacking these files it won’t be too much longer and then once we are done that we will go back into Disk Management and we’re gonna make this Drive active and that’ll allow us to boot from it and if everything works as it should then we’ll be able to boot into the to this install so let’s go ahead and bring this back up again ok actually ok I already made this one active but what you need to do to make it active if yours isn’t is right click on it and then go to mark as active all right so with that done we can drop this we don’t need these files anymore I mean just get rid of that folder and then what we need to do is to go ahead and eject our hard drive from our system so this is the one here I’ve got it on a USB SATA dock to Rosewill RX d u101 if anyone’s interested it’s actually a great handy little device so well I checked that will stop that and when I return I’ll have the hard drive installed into the laptop and I’ll show you the next steps alright I’m back and as you can see I got the hard drive set up here ready to go you can see that the actual retention mechanism is pretty simple with this Toshiba laptop it’s two screws here and this little block goes on top on the back of the drive you’re going to here and it slips in and then there’s one little set screw that goes into here of course your particular laptop may be different and then all I do is flip the laptop over pop it open and start it up and if everything works as it should we should boot straight into Windows install so I just want to show you guys the next step that happened here it’s going straight into the recovery just pretty cool when there’s more stuff to show I will pop back up again you can see our next significant step here is it’s actually going to assist prep tool flash pretty quick but as you can see we’re back to configuring the system again so it went through a boot after it went and installed the office stuff and it came back up again and as you can see that there was that sysprep box there but this is exactly what happened the first time I I did the recovery the other way with the windows PE disc and the image X but as you can see this is gonna be a lot quicker because if you actually did Google on how to create the windows PE disc it it’ll take some time to download the windows aik which is 1.7 gigabytes then you have to install and then you got to go and find it tutorial if you’re not certain how to actually create the PE disc and I mean it’s not difficult it’s just time consuming that’s all so as you can see we’re on the next step again when there is more to report I will be back alright everyone I am back and as you can see I have made it to this screen here so everything has been put back on let’s see if we can get that to focus better so I’m going to go ahead and click Next on that chose us and English us keyboard okay there’s a couple screen a couple of licenses to to accept the next screen and for this this test I’m just going to say ask later for updates and all like that she was that okay so I’m gonna skip over I’ll skip over this part here okay I’m back took a few minutes wasn’t too bad though now that we’re back into Windows this Best Buy software it’s dollar decided to pop up I don’t really want this coming up so I’m gonna get rid of it I say no thanks to the software can always start later if you want but I don’t want anything to do with best buy stuff so that part is complete we now have our fully working desktop there’s two she was pop out for camera control different things you can do with that of course you’ve got if we go into all programs and we go straight to Toshiba – EULA there we see recovery media creator yes to that and it tells us to wait and there we go we can now create recovery media straight from our freshly recovered hard drive with just the hard drive partition every heart are the recovery partition on the hard drive and I have taken a Liberty to create the disks already takes five disks to do it I’ve already tested them out and they work things when everything’s worked good on them so I really hope this can get some of you guys out of a jam if if you’re having issues with your laptop and you have no recovery media to help you out with it appears that the recovery partition is all that we really need to do that so in the near future I’m gonna actually do a tutorial on how to recover this laptop here it’s a hbg 62 it’s kept pretty much the same specs as this Toshiba laptop does but it looks like the procedure is going to be a little different so but it shouldn’t be too far off this one so stay tuned for that one and again I hope this helps you guys so take care and good luck
