Dell Inspiron 7000 (7568) Hard Drive / RAM Upgrade / Removal / Replacement / Break Down Procedures

[WPXperVideo id=111 ]today we’re going to do a hard drive upgrade on a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series this specific model is model seven five six eight it’s probably similar on other models that are similar to this one but this specific model that’s the information for it so this one the battery’s internal so you can’t just simply remove the battery but what you can do is remove this bottom panel these are standard Phillips head screws so I’m going to use a standard Phillips head screwdriver and go ahead and remove all these screws on the bottom you’re going to remove one two three four five six seven eight nine ten now that the screws are removed we’re going to pop this bottom cover off normally you would use a spudger which I don’t have so I’m going to try using a a giftcard slash credit card you’re going to want to gently separate the space between the bottom cover and the frame of the notebook I normally try to find a space that’s already got a bit of an opening to work with like over by the USB ports so I’ll use my credit card or gift card whatever you’re using to try to separate the space here in between the HDMI port and the frame like so okay and then as you do that you work your way around let’s start to pop off take your time do it nice and gently no rush and it will come off just work your way all the way around the entire laptop got most of it off now except for the back area here and there you go that removes the cover the back cover or a bottom cover I should say you and here you’ll find you have the memory swap and over here is the hard drive today we’re upgrading the hard drive if you want to upgrade the memory though it’s pretty simple it’s right here just simply remove that memory replace it with whatever you’re going to upgrade it with this specific model comes with an 8 gig stick it could probably upgrade it to 16 but I haven’t verified that yet now under normal circumstances I would say to disconnect the battery before proceeding however in my case since I’m just doing the hard drive I’m going to be very careful not to touch any parts of the circuit board with my tools and I’m simply going to remove this hard drive and upgrade it with a new one without disconnecting the battery you can choose to do so if you like if you’re worried that you might short something out it would definitely be a good idea to remove the battery I’ve done this enough time so I feel confident I can do this without removing the battery to remove the hard drive you’re going to remove this screw here we’re also going to remove this screw here there’s also a third screw right back here that you need to remove now that although all three of those screws are removed you should be able to simply lift up on this hard drive carefully and pull out the data cable behind it carefully again like so now to swap out this hard drive I’m going to swap it out with an SSD specifically have a crucial m500 I’ll be replacing it with it’s lowering capacity but as you probably know with an SSD you’re gaining greatly in procurements so you simply remove these four screws and you’re going to want to put the hard drive back in this little caddy that it’s in the exact same way so I’m going to go ahead and remove the screws now I’m going to move my laptop to the side so it’s not the drop any screws in it okay now if those four screws are removed this sort of kind of like caddy comes right off and if you look at the way the hard drives put in you simply put the new hard drive in the exact same way and reattach your screws okay hard drive is installed in the caddy now we just simply reverse our procedures on the installation or for the installation by doing the following so I’m going to move my hard drive to the side bring my laptop back in place okay and we’re going to reattach the data cable as so now we’re going to gently place our hard drive back in place lining it up with the same screw holes you should feel it snap into place so to say and we’re going to use our same screws that we removed earlier to reattach it to the chassis of the laptop that concludes the installation of the hard drive so we’re going to carefully grab our lid it’s not really like the bottom but we’re going to carefully put this back in place on the motherboard making sure that no cables or wires are sticking out which in my case there is not I feel comfortable placing this cover back on and basically it just snaps in place so you’re simply going to snap it in place all the way around like so okay and then check your check all the way around make sure it looks like it’s sealed properly no gaps in my case it looks good so I’m going to go ahead and replace the screws there again there are ten of them finish putting your screws in power up and start your operating system and you should be good to go thanks for watching you

Dell XPS L501X Opening to Replace Hard Drive & Memory

[WPXperVideo id=63 ]hi youtubers it’s David from DP computing we’ve got a Dell XPS l50 1x laptop which we’re just going to open up change your memory or look at how to change the memory and get to the actual hard drive itself now as always a word of warning take static precautions following these steps may damage your actual machine now the first thing we have to do is remove the battery which is here it’s easily done by just pushing this switch to the side and as you heard makes a click and then pops up and we can just remove it and put it to one side now we’ve got the three screws they’re just normal Phillips head they’ll get us into the battery compartment not battery compartment the memory just remove those three screws the screws themselves won’t totally come out and then as you can see here you’ve got the memory so the two currently two dims in to get to remove them just pull the silver tabs outwards and the memory pops up which you can then slide out and there’s a bit of dog here or cat here in there and I’ll just push it back in and then push it down to install here we’ve got the Wi-Fi module and here which this one doesn’t have is a www n which is your 3G 4G sort of internet connection and there’s the antennas for that which this one doesn’t have you must be also able to put it like a TV adapter or something in there now as you can see from here we can’t get into or we can’t see the actual hard drive itself to get to the hard drive we have to flip it over old before we do that there’s the optical drive which is here and that’s one little screw just there undo that screw and screw Kirby falls out then then we can pull out the optical drive you can then put in another optical drive and then put back the screw just in here now to get to the actual hard drive itself we have to turn it over and remove the keyboard now before we do that you may or may not be able to see this but under where the battery is here there’s actually three sort of positions which are labeled with a k’ says one there one there so there are two clips and then we’ve got a screw here which is again labeled with a K so undo that one screw clip those two clips and that will release the keyboard now if we turn it the other way put it up now what we have to do is pull up this little panel here but once it’s all unclipped just be careful because there’s two other actual connections so just I’ve just used a little flathead screwdriver and just go along and unclip it it’s been unclip before so this one’s a bit easier yours will be a much tighter so just go under there and work your way around until it unclips but please don’t force it if you have to force it just double-check that those clips under the battery which I showed you before and that one the screw has been actually removed so once they’re done we can remove the actual keyboard although sort of mount around the keyboard I should say and here we’ve got two cables for the trackpad so just you can remove those cables to get to the hard drive which is here what I generally do is just leave them in place I don’t do any damage the hard drive itself has got four screws holding I’m screwed in one two three four five unscrew them already so once they’re unscrewed you can just pull it to the side and up and there we’ve got the hard drive which is in a little caddy we’ve got four more screws one two three four to remove and you can then pull out the hard drive put in another one or do whatever you want with it also under here we’ve got just here you may not be able to see it too well that’s a bit better just here you’ve got the CMOS battery which you can replace as well there we are there’s a quick sort of tear down to get into the hard drive memory and optical drive of a Dell XPS laptop thank you for watching and I’ll catch you next time bye for now

Dell Inspiron 15-5567 Memory and SSD Upgrade Guide

[WPXperVideo id=57 ]hi I’m James and in this video I’m going to be taking a look at fitting an additional four gigs of memory into our brand new dell inspiron 55 67 laptop so first thing we need to do with this and it should be hopefully a relatively simple process we are going to flip over the machine like so and to begin with we just have to go around and remove all of the screws from the base and as normal I’m just going to take them out I’m just going to place them over here in the order I’ve removed them and I don’t believe they’re all different sizes but this way just if any of them are then it’s easy enough to work out what came from where so we’ve gone with this model and we’re upgrading it to eight gigs of memory and I actually intentionally bought the base spec first of all because I didn’t feel the upgrade to that smaller screw there didn’t feel the upgrade to eight gigabytes was particularly good value and it was a lot cheaper to buy an additional module myself and fit it now obviously this has an impact on the warranty but with what many use this machine for I’m not too concerned and also the eight gigabyte version of the machine only came with a single eight gig module and because I want to use this laptop for performance testing with integrated graphics I’m going to be testing in dual channel configurations and not a fan of manufacturers habits of shipping things single channel unfortunately Dell have persisted across this entire range not just the the full gigabyte model and basically dual channel memory doubles the memory bandwidth available to the processor and since the processor also has the graphics for this particular laptop built into it that then has a knock-on effect on the graphic performance of the machine which can actually be up to sort of 30 percent degradation in performance and so I always yet for machines got socketed memory old slot memory rather than soldered down I’ll always make sure if I can I’ve got a dual channel configuration in the machine it is at least nice the Dell do tell you when you’re ordering the Machine what the memory configuration is a lot of manufacturers just state the amount in there and then you get a nasty surprise when you come to run something and wonder why the performance is well below what it should be I also don’t like it when manufacturers put unbalanced configurations say six gigs with a 2 and a 4 or Ram 12 gigs with 4 and an 8 as that can give some interesting performance issues as well so with all of those remove now the next thing to do is slide out the DVD drive that was held in by that screw there and possibly that one there as well I’m not sure on that side and underneath that we have three more small screws there these are sort of small flat headed screws so your screwdriver seems to do the job for these we could possibly go down the size on the tip for them but that’s doing the job ok and I actually don’t worry too much on the warranty subtleness as well because if we’re careful and using our plastic pry tool we shouldn’t leave any sort of marks obviously if you do have an issue when your warranty is voided that’s you know done on your own off your own Bank now with those screws removed what I’m going to do is just turn the laptop around so I can see a little better and the service manual says start in this corner and we are going to slide in here a plastic pry tool and just begin unlatching the base of the machine so if that corner done are now going to then try it and go and the side here and latch there and then with that opened up it should be easier to go around and get some more there we can actually just with nails what may actually be so now with the machine this side up you can see we’ve already lifted this side this isn’t really the best way to be working with the machine orientated this way and I have started to go along here when I turned it over a bit and but what we want to do is just go along this front edge and start separating the clips by sliding the pry tool in through that gap and basically if you just press down it pushes the black plastic forward and allows the top panel to pop out what we’re going to do now is for the final section we’re just going to flip the machine over and with it all lifting up now what we want to do is just pull from this end and the final clips should come out there and that gets us inside the machine so I’m just going to turn that round so I think it looks better this way and so what we have here single ddr4 module we are going to add our second four gig module this is a crucial four gig ddr4 2400 module and so that’s a micron ddr4 2400 module in there but that should give us a match pair in terms of performance and should all work nicely and now if we were I’m not going to do it yet but if we were going to fit the SSD drive into this we would first of all release this cable we can then move that back out the way we’re going to take our screwdriver and we have it looks like three screws retaining this so with those removed we should now be able to lift up the hard drive and turn it over and I’m going to disconnect the SATA cable leg because it’s going to be easier to work with when we aren’t tethered to the machine so to pop that out we just want to get this will catch lift it there pop that out pull that connector off so that gets us our drive free and then we have full screws holding it into this caddy so we can take those out and attach and fit in an SSD into there I know because I’m not doing that right now I’m just going to reattach that and reconnect to the hard drive so if you wanted to remove the CPU cooler we have one two three four screws there and then additional there which would remove the fan and heatsink as a single unit and then finally the battery it looks like you have this bracket here which would need to come off a screw here and that one is shared with the hard drive so it’d be a case of those full screws connector here connecting to the hard drive itself and then you could remove a sorry the battery and then you could remove that anyway I hope you found this video interesting and memory upgrade and hard drive change on this laptop relatively simple and in terms of getting things back together I’m just going to the only real thing other than putting screws in is just how to refit the base so if we put back in these connectors for the back in these screws for the hard drive this slots into here for the little dog board over there and real a CH that so finally to refit the base what we want to do is we want to start at this end with the majority of the ports on it and we want to line up this right corner so that it fits in round by the hinge and then press down then we are going to flip the machine over open it up and press the top panel down so it clips into the base like so and with that done all that should remain now just making sure we are happy with how all of that is fitted in all that remains now is to flip it over put the screws back in and hopefully everything should be good so using this we’ve gone to 8 gigabytes of memory in a dual-channel configuration and if you want to Dell XPS 15 (9550) Teardown, Repair and SSD/Memory Upgrade Guide

[WPXperVideo id=52 ]hi I’m James and in today’s video I am taking a look at this Dell XPS 15 this is the 95 50 model with the nice infinity display and this particular machine has had a accident involving some red wine and so what we’re going to do is just as a precaution we’re going to strip the whole meat machine down and just we believe it should be working okay but just checking for any signs of any damage inside and so we are going to start by I’ve just place this in just in case there is any remaining liquid in there just and to stop it getting through to the screen and just gives us an indicator if anything has come out and we are going to flip the machine over and begin removing these screws from the base so the main screws on this I believe are either t5 or t6 so yep t5 screws for the Torx head screws and I’m just going to pick up some of my little ramekins that I use keeping screws together so we are just going to first of all go around and remove all of these this is slightly different from the 95 30 that I have myself and looked at a couple years ago and you can see here are sort of the composite base we have this metal base to the machine and then the sort of carbon fiber effect to the inner Razzles into the base and lovely looking machines nice powerful systems and the service manual which I will link in the description remind me if I’ve forgotten as sometimes I do miss out links as I promised in the video but the service manual from Dell looks pretty good for this model and covers most of the work that covers all of the disassembly I’m not going to be going so far as to remove the screen and if I’m perfectly honest I will be surprised if anything worse than possibly some damage to some piece has occurred and but like say just a precaution the owner wants me to strip this down and check everything over so with those Torx screws removed we now need a small Phillips head and want to lift up this XPS badge and under here there are an additional two screws and – okey doke Alex it’s very obvious which ones which now with that removed it should be a case of find where I’ve hidden my pry tool I was out on a job earlier so we just wanted to get a pry tool and separate off between the base it’s fairly obvious on here being that you have the metal base where you need to slot in and we’re just going to lift around here there we go unclip there and there and we just lift forward and that will give us access to inside the system now this particular model unlike the the ninety five thirty that I had is a SSD only model and we can see here there is some liquid inside the system and so what we’re going to do is start by stripping out the battery and what we’ll do is once all this is out we will clean up any components which may have liquid on them and dry everything out there is a few drops down here on the speaker which hasn’t dried up in time between this happening and then bringing it to me and it looks like we have is it seven screws holding in the battery here now in terms of if you are looking say upgrade the SSD and then at this point with the back off that would be dead simple simply this screw here undo pop out the SSD here and slot in a new one these are what it is a in fact this may well be an nvme Drive looking at it and but it is a m2 2284 fact form-factor Drive like so that looks me an nvme Drive so you should be upset either satyr or nvme depending on whether you value sort of cost or performance if you’re fitting a larger Drive and we just need to swap out this connector for the battery if we know this that like so and there we have the battery removed x8 will be giving that clean up and making sure it’s a little happy saying with there is a little bit evident there speaker so we’re going to clean that up while we’re going now next up what we are going to do is we’re going to remove the cooler so first of all let’s start by removing the fans these each looks to have two screws retaining them if we start with this one and we also have messy wires passing past it so we release that then again just release the fan connect to that that is the first of the fans removed again we can see there’s possibly in a tiny bit of liquid through there and on this other side so again this tie on two screws lift the fan you just have a little bit of cable ducting release side connector as well so with those route we can now go through and remove the whole heat pipe and heatsink assembly for the graphics card and cooler air right the graphics card and CPU cooler it’s to heat pipes running across the two heat sinks on here and you have one on each side and one misses off will obviously replace the thermal paste on both of these components rather than just jamming it back down with the same stuff in place so it’s removed we should now simply be able to lift up this thing and there we have so the processor and the NVIDIA GPU like I say we will refresh this thermal paste when we come to reapply them we’ll keep those together with the screws now next up we are just going to remove this wireless card module because I’m just looking to unplug the mainboard I’m not too worried about actually completely disconnecting it so I’m just going to move that pull the card up out its slot and just leave it there with the antennas connected just soaks it out the way just to allow us to get access to all the screws and bits for the mainboard and then we are going to just peel up this lead at the end and carefully unplug that from the mainboard as well and then we have a couple leads we want to disconnect from this end so this screw here you have a holding plate which covers the connector for the screen so we are going to again put that from one side and then you should be able to lease the DisplayPort connector there again we’re just going to have to pull through these little and he says tabs and this connector here as well again it is stuck just to the mainboard in that corner so if we just lift that and then we just have the keyboard and touchpad pieces here with those unplugs now it should just be a case of removing a few screws here from the main board and then we should be able to lift it out as a single piece because we don’t want to be lifting it out as multiple pieces that would be very bad yeah three down this edge [Music] another Hill so I’ve got screw territory the doorbell went so I had to check that and now with those removed we can just lift the main board and then just to free the ports at this end I just need to maneuver it gently be very careful obviously and we have missed a speaker cable down in this corner so let’s drop that back into place just to I thought that was on a separate course board in fact it may well still be I don’t think I want to separate that board completely so that’s it get that gently remove that speech cable and then we can lift the board out over the single piece so with that done we now have a sheet here which covers over some of the keyboard screws now these you can actually access by these little flat so if you need to go through and remove the keyboard it’s held in around here with the screws I’m going to clean things up and test things to see if the keyboard is working and I’m ready to reassemble this it’s just the reverse of what we’ve done so bald backing screws back in and get everything back together as so and shouldn’t be too much complex for text to reassemble and and like so I’m just going to dry out a few spots in this and fire things up with just the main board connected test keyboard and then go through the from there checking that nothing has been damaged on the system anyway I hope you found this video useful and be sure to let me know in the comments if there’s any How to Upgrade Hard Drive – Dell Inspiron 15R N5010 or N5110

[WPXperVideo id=47 ]hey guys this video talks about upgrading your Dell laptop your Acura Inspiron or XPS later generation model to a solid-state drive now this is one that you can’t break by dropping the laptop you can’t do that with a regular regular hard drive it probably it might be broken by now this is all solid state I mean it’s pretty much indestructible so it is a process on this model first step remove battery set aside second step remove a memory cover we’re doing this because we want to remove the CD Drive first if the screw doesn’t come out flip it over CD drive out now we need to locate a screw right here remove that that’s actually going to hold our keyboard down I believe take that one out of there you’ll notice that we have four screws one let’s see one two three four these are what actually hold the hard drive in we’re going to hang time notice for now meanwhile can remove a couple more screws from the bottom here now put it back over this is kind of the tricky part here have a keyboard now you need to there’s little Clips they’re located right here right here right here and right here now these hold it down basically you just push in little piece and it removes I’ve already actually removed this so it’s ready to go you can take a card slide it across just to make sure they’re all out once it’s loose and you slide it forward flip it out in order to get this keyboard out there’s a connection right here zoom in so you can see that basically just flip that flip that up just like that boom keyboards out done deal there’s that so next step is to remove these screws in here on your palm rest assembly make sure you get them all there’s quite a few of them that is five total so far so believe I got them all you’ll notice there’s a clip right here the same way you remove that the out the keyboard that flips up like that same one for this one flips up like that little blue pull tabs to remove them just pull on those pull that out pull that out they’re loose now we actually forgot one over here notice here we have one here for something else probably for the touchpad or some pull that one out once you have those out this should be mostly loose unless I missed a screw so there’s actually a few more down here I guess I forgot about underneath underneath these little pieces here these little rubber deals you need to pop these out use a small screwdriver to do so and our form up front I’d recommend doing two at a time flipping it over and removing two more flipping or because you don’t want to lose these screws so there we go so now we have that out and this screws out let’s see if it’ll see if we can top it up yet it’s held on by clips I just put my fingernail in here you can probably use a small screwdriver be careful not to damage the surface of this thing you don’t want screw looking gouges so looks like held in over here we forgot a screw you’ll notice pretty quick your primary sort of thing take that screw out let’s try again hey came right out look at that done so here we are the pomerance is out you’ll notice the hard drive is located right here now remember I mentioned earlier we have those four screws we still need to remove let’s do that now get you kids on the beginning it doesn’t really matter so flip it over run out to lose the screws like I almost just did there set those aside now the hard drive is loose put it back over and you want to slide this way actually I guess you got to lift it up first there we go just like that so hard drive this is your traditional hard drive this is a 500 gigabyte 7200 rpm put your SSD in there just slide it in it’s in now the reassembly is reverse of removal so have fun put the lie back together try not to break anything but it’s the exact same just play the video backwards or something you should be able to put it back together but that’s how to do it I’ll have a video soon showing the performance increase of this thing I’m actually not going to use this solid-state drive I’ll be using a 256 gigabyte solid state drive from crucial to the C 300 so we’ll see what kind of performance we can get out of this this laptop that’s all for now guys I want to make this too long so I’m not going to put all back together right now but it’s fairly straightforward just follow it backwards and have a good day see it
